investigators are baffled. breaking news on the execution of a virginia woman. mini melt down. you just saw the scenes and anatomy."om "gray's captioned by the national captioning institute --www.ncicap.org-- >>> a neighborhood in shambles after flames fly, damaging eight homes. tonight crew remained at the scene in manassas. we captured these pictures as it was unfolding. we are live on the scene right now. >> this fire was unbelievably destructive. take a look behind me. firefighters are still on the scene, working to extinguish some hot spots. a couple of homes were completely burned down to the ground. this fire started in a couple of minutes and ignited and spread as quickly. you get a bird's eye view of the inferno in this manassas subdivision. neighbors say they saw smoke at this address at 3:00 p.m. and called 911. moments later house was engulfed. >> in about 15 minutes, it was completely gone. >> eight homes were damaged, three of them destroyed. high winds calls the burning embers to jump from one house to the next. >> the man who called this in, his house is now a burnt out shel

they were rescued. this is greg. he is in northern virginia bringing us the story of the swift-water rescue. maybe it was dark at the time they were in there. if you cannot see the road, turn around. look how high that was up to the door? >> this water cut the engine out. it takes two feet of rushing water to push a car off the road. 6" of rushing water can knock you down. this is where greg is located in annandale. we have other scenes like this, i'm sure, where you have streams and creeks. you can see on the left area where the waves from the rushing water lapping at the shore line as the creek is expanding as the rushing waters were flowing downhill. >> look at that picture and make sure you don't replicate it. we don't want to hear anymore swift-water rescues because you did not follow the rule. turn around, don't drown. >> we will see more streams and creeks that will become impassible during the morning hours. especially during the afternoon. i still think we have another 5- to-8 hours of moderate-to-heavy rainfall. this is streaming off the atlantic. that red box is a tornado watch.

, virginia over a traffic speed bump led to murder. the body of steven cay was found at his home on field master drive on sunday night. police arrested and charged his neighbor, 44-year-old david patton with murder. they say he stormed in to carr's home and tied up him and his girlfriend before shooting carr. they say he may have been mad at the addition of a street bump. residents were shocked. >> i can't get over the fact it is senseless. >> it is senseless. ridiculous and so sad. >> reporter: in june, dave patton was arrested for assaulting steven carr outside of his home. his court date for that charge was set for thursday. he is now charged with second- degree murder and is in fairfax jail without bond. >>> police in florida are trying to solve the murder of a businessman from alexandria, virginia. sam dell broco was the founder of pci communication. he traveled several times a month to a home in pomp know beach where deputies found miss body inside of the home which is in a gated community. police have not said how he was killed ever an armored car guard is expected to recover after
for him. they spotted a car on the side of the road in manassas. he identified himself as a virginia state trooper. further investigation revealed he is not a trooper and there is now a search warrant for his arrest. the man accused of shooting his ex-girlfriend is in custody but his vehicle is still missing. tuesday the montgomery county police say joshua prince fired at least one shot at his ex. that sparked a regional manhunt and he later turned himself into police in pennsylvania. authority have not been able to locate the chevy tahoe. authorities will escort prince back to montgomery county where he is facing attempted murder charges. >>> several attack around the university of maryland campus are prompting authorities to step up the patrols this weekend. prince george's county + say there have been at least five robberies around umd in just the last three week. three students were reportedly beaten and robbed last weekend. the robberies were reported on monday within minutes of each other. the university's police chief that he may form a task force to focus this problem. >>> decision

about why a northern virginia man may have staged a violent incident at johns hopkin hospital in baltimore. it turns out the gunman was likely distraught over his mother's condition gentleman the incident began at the hospital around 11:00 yesterday morning. the gunman and his mother are said to be from arlington. police say paul warren pardus pulled a gun and shot his mother's doctor while the surgeon updated him on his mother's condition. pardus barricaded himself in his mother's eighth floor hospital room killing his mother and then himself. for more than two hours, no one knew what was happening inside. >> my boss came running in and he told me exactly what happened, that there was a guy running around with a gun and to stay put. it was scary just knowing that machine -- someone is on the outside on a rampage with a gun in a hospital where we're supposed to be protected. >> reporter: police had originally identified par stay with us -- pardus as warren davis but he says he changed his name. >>> four metro access drivers accused of sexual assaults against disabled customer
